Kristin Thorne is known for her drive, resourcefulness and incredible ability to multi-task, juggling several stories every day. She's been described by sources as hard working, respectful and full of integrity. She is proficient in Spanish and frequently interviews sources in Spanish and translates for broadcast.

LEADING THE NEWS

Kristin prides herself on producing stories which effect positive change. Her exclusive interview with the mother of a teenager killed by the violent street gang MS-13 prompted a police investigation and the discovery of several buried bodies. Kristin's investigative story about a pet organization selling morbidly ill puppies forced animal protection authorities to shut down the group the next day. Her exclusive story about a man wanted for lewd conduct directly resulted in the man's arrest in less than 24 hours.

As an investigative reporter for WABC, Kristin researches, pitches and produces her own stories. She's known for her ability to get exclusive information and content. She conducted a months-long investigation into voting irregularities on Long Island, which prompted a strong community response. In 2014, she traveled to a maximum-security prison in upstate New York to interview a prisoner who alleged his innocence in several decade-old sex crimes.

Before joining WABC, Kristin was a reporter for WCBS in New York. She appeared live every morning on the station's morning news program and noon newscasts. She also appeared on the national anchor desk of The Early Show.

Before making the incredible jump to the New York City market, Kristin was a reporter for News 12 Westchester - a 24-hour cable news station based in Yonkers, New York. She was the only reporter from News 12 who covered the arrest of 10 Russian spies and was in Manhattan federal court when they were deported in the largest swap of Russian spies since the Cold War. She was also the sole reporter on the trial of four suspected homegrown terrorists at federal court in Manhattan.

Prior to joining News 12 Westchester, Kristin was a reporter and bureau chief for ABC 27 WHTM in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There she was solely responsible for the coverage of York County where more than 416,000 people reside. She researched, arranged and produced all her own stories.

BREAKING STORIES

Kristin's real passion is finding and breaking her own stories. She's used hidden cameras to expose local prostitution rings and revealed leads in homicide cold cases.

She understands the importance of developing relationships with valuable sources and instilling a sense of trust with them.

Kristin also likes to work on stories that feature the good things that are going on in her viewers' communities.
